This is definately a must read for all ages! It magically takes the reader into the tasty world of Willy Wonka and his mysterious Oompa Loompas while teaching us all a lesson in honesty. I dare you not to get the munchies while reading this fantastically written edible tale.

I FIRST READ THIS TORY WHEN I WAS A CHILD AND I HAVE NEVER CHANGED THE WAY I FEEL ABOUT IT. THIS TALE HAS A FANTASTIC USE OF IMAGINATION AND IT MAKES YOU FEEL AS IS YOU ARE IN THIS CHOCOLATE FACTORY. YOU LOOK INTO THE MIND OF WILLY WONKA AND SEE HOW A FANTASTIC MAGICIAN IN THE CHOCOLATE BUSINESS WORKS. ALONG WITH THIS YOU SEE A CINDERELLA TALE IN PROCESS WITH CHARLIE WHO IN THE BEGINING OF THE TALE HAD NOTHING AND AT THE END FINISHED UP WITH A FACTORY WHICH MAKES CHOCOLATE.

This is a book full of adventures and fantastic things.A young boy by the name of Charlie, who likes Wonka Chocolate bars.The factory is full of unbeliveable things, chocolate milk maker, gum drop trees, this place has it all! The owner of the company Mr. Wonka, has a contest, he sends out Golden Tickets on the inside of Wonka Bars. Now Charlie, a poor young boy , thinks he has no chance of winning. He lives in a small shack. Small does Charlie know, what he is about to unwrap. This book was one that kept me interested. I thought a lot of the things that went on were pretty awesome. The movie is just as excellent as the book. I have a honest Warning for you though, DONT WATCH THIS MOVIE IF YOUR HUNGRY!

While the book version of this tale is much darker than the movie script, the overall message is valuable to 4th graders (when it was read to me), & adults alike – over indulgence, of any sort, leads to no excellent…. The tale always stuck w/ me, & is classic – it will stick w/ children by & large.
There are few comparisons to Dahl, when it comes to a descriptive setting, & lavish tale, w/ a lesson to boot (you in the patoot!)… My only lament is that the author is dead.

It starts about a poor small boy who barly has anything to eat. He lives with his fantastic grandparents and his mother. On his way to school everyday he walks past a gaint chocolate factory,the oner is a weird small man with lots of secrets.

I first heard Gershwin’s 3 Preludes around 1980, and ran out to get the music. I learned to play the (slow) middle prelude pretty well, and was half-way decent on the first prelude, except for the quick small run at the end.

Now I’ve got another current copy, and it’s time to relearn them.

Pianists beware: the sonatas/fantasies in this book are reprints of the ancient Breitkopf & Härtel edition, which is not a very “faithful” or “authentic” printing of Mozart’s works. Certain markings, like long phrase slurs and use of the word legato, are very un-Mozartean: they are clearly the work of the editor. Other edits, like appogiaturas written as regular notation, and certain post-trill ornaments, may also cause concern among Mozart purists.

Despite these alterations, this edition — like all other Dover piano books — is brilliant for playing. Once you open out the pages and press them into place, they won’t drift back. The notation is printed clearly; the only sonata with readability issues is the 9th in D major. The inclusion of two “new” Sonatas (which did not appear in older editions) is an fascinating surprise, but not necessarily a excellent or terrible one.

If you really can’t stand to see Wolfgang’s work altered by editors, then avoid this book and buy an Urtext edition instead. If, on the other hand, you simply want to play some melodious, intermediate piano music, then go ahead and buy this book — it’s the cheapest one out there. But, you would be well advised to check out an urtext version just to see where the editing changes are.

This is a nice, reasonably priced edition of Mozart’s sonatas. It also includes his Fantasies also. My largest problem is that there are no fingerings present. Yes, the lack of excessive fingerings can sometimes be excellent, but there are absolutely none given in this edition. There are also some editorial changes, none of which are glaringly severe, but slightly annoying.

Mozarts sonatas are a must for any classical pianist and a fantastic teaching tool for the intermediate pianist wishing to advance to more challenging works. The Dover edition is fine, but you might want to examine other editions before settling on this one.

The editing in this edition is not perfect; but in some cases there is some useful written-out appogiaturas (the ornaments that are usually indicated by symbols in the music.) If you are not familiar with how an inverted mordant should be played or the conventions of trills, the editing will do you until you listen to enough Mozart recordings of the fantastic pianists and learn the Baroque and Classical conventions of ornamentation.

This is one of those books that you could take with you and the piano to a desert island and have enough music to learn and delight in for years.
